4/1: The ESU presents the VP of Apple, John Brandon

fdgOn April 1st at 5 p.m., the Economic Student Union will be hosting an event with the Vice President of the Americas and Asia Pacific for Apple, John Brandon. He will provide practical tips on how to succeed in your first real job and ultimately your career. Mark your calendars now!
fdgJohn Brandon has served as Vice President of the Americas and Asia Pacific for Apple since June 2001. Prior to joining Apple, he was President and Chief Executive Officer for Academic Systems, an educational content company. Also, John spent ten years with Adobe Systems, Inc., a graphics software company, where he served as the Vice President and General Manager of North America. Before joining Adobe, he held both sales and sales management roles at General Parametrics Corporation, a presentation graphics hardware company and Texas Instruments, a semiconductor and computer hardware company. John lives in Atherton, CA with his wife, Nancy. They have three children. The youngest one, Jenni, is a freshman at Duke.

Mission Statement

The Economics Students Union exists to fulfill three main objectives:

• Provide networking opportunities for Duke's economics students. We wish to encourage students to socialize with each other, to get to know their professors outside of the classroom, and to become acquainted with the graduate students in the department. The ESU accomplishes this through faculty-student socials, class socials, and informal activities.
• Provide a forum for students concerns. We hope to bridge the gap between the Economics Department and the economics students by acting as the voice of the economics students in order to enact changes in the students wish to see in the department. By acting as one voice, we believe that we can exert more influence over the department and get more accomplished.
• Supplement academic experience that students receive in the classroom by sponsoring and organizing lectures, debates, symposiums, and faculty-student lunches. We strive to provide the economics students with the events that they feel will enable them to make the most out of their experience here at Duke.
